Build Your Own Picture Frame (Weekend workshop)

  • Void Gallery 312 Avenue B South Saskatoon, SK, S7M 1M6 Canada (map)

Build your own picture frame. Saturday and Sunday, July 14th and 15th, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm both days. No experience necessary.

In this weekend workshop, participants will build their own solid birch picture frame (up to 16" x 20") using archival and acid-free materials. Michael will take participants through the processes of:

  • ripping frame stock from birch 1x4s,
  • choosing the right size of frame for their artwork,
  • mitring corners,
  • cutting window mats,
  • float mounting,
  • cutting glass, and
  • assembling their frames.

All materials (including solid birch and archival white mat board) are provided as part of the course.

**As cutting wood will require use of a table saw and a mitre saw, for participants not familiar or comfortable with these tools, the instructors will cut frame stock for them.

Dates: Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, July 14th and 15th.
